TRADE-IN INFORMATION

Where do you get your golf club trade-in values from?

The Golf Galaxy online trade-in service, powered by the PGA Value Guide, bases all of its golf club trade-in values on the PGA.com Value Guide, The National Standard for Golf Club Values™. These values are derived from what golf clubs are actually selling for in the world's largest marketplace for used golf clubs, eBay. In comparison to arbitrary manufacturer or retailer rate cards, the PGA.com Value Guide's "engine" is a complex, real-time statistical program that combines programming, statistical and golf club expertise. Considering eBay marketplace scale and statisitical sophistication of the PGA.com Value Guide engine, it is fair to say the golf club values it publishes are the current, accurate "fair-market values" for the huge database of golf clubs involved.

How do I know if you will accept my trade-ins?

The Golf Galaxy online trade-in service, powered by the PGA Value Guide, will accept any golf club listed in the PGA.com Value Guide that has a current market value AND meets the following Minimum Trade-In Requirements:
  • The PGA Value Guide, in its sole but reasonable authority, will determine if a golf club trade-in meets the Minimum Trade-In Requirements.
  • All golf club trade-ins must be the property of the customer executing the trade-in transaction.
  • All golf club trade-ins must be authentic and non-counterfeit. Counterfeit golf clubs may be identified by rubber-smelling grips, subtle differences in cosmetic branding on the head, shaft and grip, and different swing weight verses authentic OEM clubs.
  • Driver, fairway and hybrid wood club heads may not have dents, dings, paint chipping, pop-up marks, deep scratches or damaged or missing branding.
  • Iron, wedge and putter club heads may not have gouges, rust, paint or chrome chipping, excessive sole or groove wear, or damaged or missing branding.
  • All golf shafts may not have dents, dings, bends, rust, excessive wear, broken, loose or separates ferrules or damaged or missing branding.
  • 8 consecutive sticks is 100%
  • 7 consecutive sticks is 87.5% (7/8ths)
  • 6 consecutive sticks is 75%
  • 5 consecutive sticks is 62.5%
  • 4 consecutive sticks or less is no value
  • All irons in the set must have matching heads, shafts, and shaft flexes.
  • All golf club grips must be installed and functional.
  • Length must be within +/- 3" of the manufacturer's standard golf club length.
  • Lie angle must be within +/- 3* of the manufacturer's standard golf club lie angle.
  • All single irons (9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1) that are not part of a matching iron set do not qualify for trade-in.
  • All set wedges (wedge models that are only manufactured and sold as part of an iron set) are listed and acceptable within the irons category.
  • Golf club specifications that were never made available by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) do not qualify for trade-in. Golf club specification is defined as the unique combination of shaft brand, shaft type, shaft flex, shaft length, lie and loft of a specific brand, model and type (drivers, fairways, hybrids, iron sets, wedges and putters) of golf club(s).
  • Golf club head covers, tool kits, torque wrenches, or other related accessories should be included whenever possible (though are not mandatory).

What happens if there are any discrepancies?

If, upon inspection, the PGA Value Guide identifies any discrepancies (E.g. the golf club model entered on the site doesn't match the actual golf club model received) we will email you to notify you of the discrepancy and the resulting value change (+/-), if any.

What happens if my trade-ins do not meet the Minimum Trade-In Requirements?

If, upon inspection, the PGA Value Guide determines your clubs do not meet the Minimum Trade-In Requirements and thus have zero value, you will receive an email asking if you would like the clubs either returned to you or kept & recycled by the PGA Value Guide.

Why are there no values shown for my golf club?

In the unlikely event that values do not appear for a golf club in The PGA.com Value Guide, a minimum quantity of transactions for the specific golf club model may not have occurred within The PGA.com Value Guide's analysis window. In order to maintain accuracy, and therefore uphold credibility in the values, a minimum quantity of "recent" transaction data is required within the PGA.com Value Guide's statistical analysis model.

Does the PGA.com Value Guide value collectible golf clubs?

No. As the National Standard Resource for used golf club values, the purpose of the PGA.com Value Guide is to serve as a resource for the value of "practical", used golf clubs in the secondary market, and not to serve as a resource for the value of collectible golf clubs. Practical used golf club models are bought and sold more regularly in the secondary market (typically for use), and therefore exhibit more statistically significant and less volatile fair-market trade-in and re-sale values. Golf club models that are classified as collectible may have been intentionally produced in low quantities or designed to commemorate an important event, person or accomplishment, all of which would inflate the value of the golf club. These golf clubs may not be typically purchased for use. Also, some older golf clubs become more valuable as a result of their age, rarity or antique status. In these instances where golf club models are classified as collectible, the PGA.com Value Guide does not provide trade-in or re-sale values.

PACKING & SHIPPING

How do I ship my golf club trade-ins?

The default shipping service of the PGA Value Guide is FedEx. Once your golf club trade-in has been submitted through the trade-in website, you will receive an email from us containing a packing list and link to your FedEx shipping label. If you are unable to print, you can take the RMA code that will be provided to your local FedEx staffed shipping location and give to the FedEx counter employee. They will then print out your return shipping label for you and attach it to your box. They will also provide a box if you need one (Please add at your own cost). If you wish to ship your golf club trade-in using another shipping service, you will automatically assume all liability for the shipment and you will be responsible for any shipping charges that result. The PGA Value Guide will not credit these shipping charges or add this amount to your payment for the golf club trade-ins.

How much does shipping cost for golf club trade-ins?

All shipments of golf club trade-ins valued* at $99 or more will receive FREE FedEx Ground shipping. Any shipments of golf club trade-ins valued at less than $99 will have $7.99 deducted from your trade-in payment, so there is still no out of pocket expense for you.

Do you accept trades from international customers?

The Golf Galaxy online trade-in service, powered by the PGA Value Guide, is only available to residents of the continental United States (and Hawaii). No international trades are being accepted at this time.
